The dog’s owner, who lives nearby, said she saw the car hit the dog.
“I saw the red car coming at us, it was driving so fast it was like a bullet,” she said.
The video shows the driver of the car, who did not want to be named, leaving a message on the dog’s phone. “
We had no idea the car was going to hit them.”

“Sorry for the inconvenience,” the message read.
“It’s an emergency.
I’m on my way to pick up the dog, we’re pretty scared.”
The driver told ABC Radio Melbourne he was only on his way to get his dog for the weekend and did not intend to hit the pet.
“He didn’t know what he was doing,” he said.
The man posted the video on Facebook, saying he wanted to warn other drivers to stay away from his home.
“This is what happens when you don’t act responsibly,” he wrote.
“Please don’t run over your own dog.
It’s not worth it.
You’ll end up hurting your dog.”
